Good to see such a good crowd for my Thursday HoG RoX nights at the Hog's Head in Sidcup.

Thanx for all the requests, glad to rock up your week!

See you every Thursday for HoG RoX - the best mix of Indie & Rock outside of the Xfm studio!

So if your thing is the very best of current Indie/Alternative, Rock Anthems, Britpop Chartbusters and X-list Classics get down to:

 The Hog's head, Sidcup - 47-49 High Street, DA14

Every Thursday - With much love and support (and freebies) from  this is one not to be missed.

The weekend just got one day closer.

HoG RoX -'LIVE'  Having played well over 1,000 gigs as a musician (so I know how hard it can be to get good gigs) I wanted to give something back by offering gigs to Good, Local, Original Bands.  It started in 2005 with Alternative THURSdays, and in 2006 & 2007 did it with HoG RoX.

Zocalo Are are back to play a very welcome return at  HoG RoX -'LIVE' on Thursday 26th June 2007.  Breathtaking in their emotion and power - a big, slightly dark, sound and female vocal.  They're back, so if you missed them before, make sure you don't again.

Check out their Myspace at:

Bands that have already put in some blistering sets at 'the Hog' (if you didn't catch 'em, make sure you do next time) are:

Mie Lunar Nectar  Have played a couple of blinding sets at 'the Hog' (including a judicious use of the pool table first time out, and a true getting into the 'spirit' of it at the Halloween gig).  They played their 3rd HoG RoX -'LIVE' gig on 14th June.

A band that never fail to impress with their energy and attitude - a 2-piece that sound like a dark ballsy 'White Stripes'.  Check them out next time they play or at  their website/MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/mielunarnectar

Nelly's Heroes  No nonsense, straight-up rock n' roll from this Ramones/Green Day-esque 4-piece.  Full of attitude from start to finish.

Check out their MySpace:

http://www.myspace.com/nellysheroesuk

and a see a video of their HoG RoX -'LIVE' gig.

Loverock Road  Just got to mention local band: Loverock Road.  They came down on 7th December and played an awesome set.  I'd been playing out their demo on HoG RoX nights and it was so good you could drop it between the Kooks, Futureheads, Killers you name it, and it stood up, no problem.  The new material went down well too, especially the 'Stella' song.  They're definitely coming back to 'the Hog' in 2007.  Check them out next time they play or at  their website:

 http://www.loverockroad.co.uk

Brain Ache  Came down on Thursday 15th March 2007.  I'd been  playing  out a 'Say Or Do' from their demo for the last couple of weeks and brand new track 'Last Goodbye' on HoG RoX nights and, frankly, we couldn't wait to see these boys kick ass live!  They must have had the 'biggest' sound to date, fresh from a BBC showcase and, ahem, literally 'awash' with BBC hospitality they played an inspired set.  Find out more on their website (link on the image above) or their MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/brainache

Zocalo Played HoG RoX -'LIVE' on Thursday (well it would be, wouldn't it?) 7th June 2007.  I'd been playing out their demo for weeks, 'Close To Hell', and hearing their sound live was breathtaking in it's emotion and power.  Another band with a big, slightly dark, sound but tempered with Sarah's sweet vocal to balance it perfectly.  They're back on 26th of July, so if you missed them this time, make sure you don't again.   Check out their Myspace at:  http://www.myspace.com/zocalotheband

Local Ska-Punk 4-piece.

Low Budget Fiasco

played their debut  HoG RoX - 'LIVE' night  on 28th June, delivering a dynamic well-worked and energetic set, with a very full sound and 3 vocal harmonies.  These boys will definitely be back!

Check out their Myspace at:  http://www.myspace.com/lowbudgetfiasco

Feel Up Cupid Played HoG RoX -'LIVE' on Thursday 30th August 2007.  Regulars, and serial requesters, at my HoG RoX nights, Dan, Dan, Tom & Matt came down and played a well-received set of Old School Rock n' Roll.

All from individual bands, and heading back to Uni, they put a special set together of classic rock tracks: Zeppelin, Cream, The Who, the list goes on, and it proved to be a huge crowd pleaser.

We'll welcome them back, anytime!

So.....

If you're in a local band, and you're pretty good, get your demo (on CD) to me, or Ben (the guv'nor) on a Thursday HoG RoX night.

If its any good, (and it doesn't have to be Rock) I'll play it out - loud.

We'll then invite you to come down and play a (up to 50-minute) set.

I'll provide the PA, Mics and Lights, and engineer the mixing desk and sort out the sound for you.

All you have to do is bring your back line, and play!

If you have enjoyed HoG RoX  nights, please go to The Hog's head page on Abeerintheevening.com and write a comment - Click here:

We'd like to thank everyone at Xfm for their support - Cheers
